BREECE HILL TO DEMONSTRATE FIRST SAIT AUTOLOADER AT CeBIT
Sony-Based Pre-Configured 10-Pak Autoloader Meets Need of SMB Market
Hannover, Germany and Louisville, CO, U.S.A. — March 18, 2004 — Breece Hill LLC, a manufacturer of tape autoloaders, libraries and integrated information storage appliances based in Louisville, CO, today announced that it is demonstrating the world's first 5 TB SAIT Autoloader at the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany. The Breece Hill SAIT Autoloader supports both Sony's SAIT standard and WORM (Write Once Read Many) tape technologies to provide customers with up to 13TB of storage in a small 4U footprint.
Available now, Breece Hill is demonstrating the SAIT Autoloader in Sony's booth at CeBIT 2004. The Sony booth is located in Hall 2, Stand C02.
"Continuing our history of innovation, Breece Hill is excited to be working with Sony to provide the world's first SAIT Autoloader," said Breece Hill President Phil Pascarelli. "We have seen a high demand from our customers to integrate Sony's SAIT technology into our products. We can now provide up to 13 TB of compressed data into a single 10 cartridge autoloader designed especially for our small to medium business customers."
Mark Lufkin, General Manager of Sales & Marketing for IT Peripherals within Sony Europe's Storage Solutions division commented, "We are delighted that Breece Hill has designed Sony's SAIT technology into their compact 10-cartridge backup and archiving solution, making it the highest capacity autoloader available on the market today. Its endorsement is very significant for us and for the momentum of SAIT technology in general."
The SAIT Autoloader includes all of the benefits of Sony's SAIT technology:
- The industry's highest capacity tape drive, providing 5 TB of uncompressed data in a 10 cartridge unit
- Standard barcode reader
- Standard Import/Export Mail slot
- A sustained native transfer rate of to 30MB per second
- Remote-Sensing Memory-In-Cassette (R-MIC) for high-speed file search and access
- Write-Once-Read-Many (WORM) feature. Once recorded, SAIT-WORM media cannot be re-written or re-formatted, but data can be appended
- Automatic head cleaning system, AME media and leader block tape threading system to ensure system reliability
Breece Hill will add the SAIT Autoloader technology to its Information Storage and Retrieval (iStoRATM) product line in Q2 2004. iStoRA was the first product to combine disk, removable media and software in an integrated solution to deliver enterprise-class data backup, recovery and archiving solutions for companies of all sizes.
